Actually, Eib, the title of the post is "why it doesn't JUST get better for teenagers". The writer is trying to demonstrate how a video aimed at helping young gay people feel accepted, helped him to also feel accepted and no longer alone in his company. He didn't say why he does for a living, but a quick Google of his company (SAP) should tell you the industry he works for. Perhaps next time you want to pass comment on a blog post, you should read the title and the content properly before you jump in with your opinions.

Bon courage!

I get why people need to put on a professional face. The less my colleagues really know how my weekend was, the better. But it's the aesthetics of corporate culture I still can't hack. Everything about our office is dulled down to the lowest most inoffensive common denominator. White walls, strip lights, blue carpets. Good design can inspire, bad design makes me feel grey.

Whilst a grass root attempt to change your workplace is a good thing I rather think you are misinterpreting the ethos of the "it gets better" campaign. Comparing your situation "a grey office" with not many other lbgt people around doesn't translate into it doesn't get better for all teenagers. Maybe they will choose industries a little more colourful. You haven't said what you do.

After email correspondence the London Evening Standard, they corrected references to me in their online report of the incident.

They maintain that the quote in the article was genuine; although my other half wasn’t aware he was speaking with a journalist.

A few months ago, I randomly stumbled upon Kristian's blog because of an outstanding post he wrote. And now, because of that connection, I have (luckily) arrived at your blog to find this. I don't know which is more profound... my feeling of sadness over the situation or my feeling of warmth over your actions.

My partner and I live with the belief that we're all connected as human beings. It can get tough out there in the world, so we have to watch out for one another. Even when it's not convenient. Even when it's messy.

You modeled that in a big way. Way to go!

Loads of respect coming your way from both of us.

Young man, what you did for Mr Sheriff was truly outstanding. During what must have been an extremely distressing time, you acted, selflessly, timely and correctly. I'm sure his family, in time, will be forever grateful to you and how you responded during those initial, crucial moments. You are quite simply, a fine example of humankind at it's best. May Mr. Sherriff, rest in peace now, and sincere condolences to his family. And I hope you also recover from this senseless tragedy.
